Perception Of Obesity: A Qualitative Study

Obesity and overweight are one of the greatest challenges our century. World Health Organization worldwide statistics show an increasing prevalence adult obesity. In present study, we aimed to gather perceptions on obesity or obese adults that would allow a comprehensive picture their life experience impact socio-cultural factors them. The study involved 19 people, 12 women 7 men, aged between 26 50 years (M = 35.84; SD 8.89) with Body Mass Index (BMI) ≥ 28 kg / m2, degree I II who have experienced episode by time is conducted. was carried out in two stages: first stage consisted qualitative focus-type approach, second face-to-face interview each participant. results interviews allowed identification major topics interest, interconnected, namely self-perception emotional response stigma. obtained discussed based specialized literature. abstract should be presented as single paragraph briefly summarize goals, methods, new manuscript.
